Hauwai Apartments is an impressive building, being a new-build structure providing 93 completed apartments. The site required robust ground-work including new inground services infrastructure to King Street and Adelaide Road, and circa 160x 12- 15m deep concrete piles. The structure is a hybrid precast panel and in-situ concrete solution, including the floor slabs which are supported on a precast rib and infill system. The resulting structure provides solid concrete inter-tenancy walls.
The project commenced in June 2020, following NZ’s first ever government imposed ‘lock down’. These were tough and uncertain times, but
the Aoraki team kicked the project into action despite those challenging conditions.
The end product delivered has been of a very high quality. Purchasers of new apartments are very demanding, which the Aoraki team knew right
from the start. This reference from a purchaser really sums up Aoraki’s success in delivering quality – both in terms of the physical
product, and the communication:
“What impressed me was the regular progress updates on the Aoraki Construction website, including photos with desriptions of the work and
milestones reached. I found this very informative and looked forward to each new update. We have now moved in, just after Christmas, and are
very impressed with the finished apartment quality. The whole building looks great and we are loving the location.” – Steve Graham,
resident.
The project achieved an impeccable safety record, with a significant amount of high risk work completed with no significant or serious harm
injuries. This was achieved through robust systems, but also (and most importantly) by the Aoraki team driving a practical positive safety
behaviour culture on site.
